*Hybrid Program requires once per a year in person clinical intensives. If missed, you will attend the following year.

Program Structure:

The program is structured across five semesters (each approximately 15 weeks) over two academic years, strategically integrating online learning with intensive in-person clinical residencies. A significant emphasis is placed on advanced clinical education and practice.

  • Grants a PhD in Advanced Clinical Sexology

  • Two year minimum to complete the program with many taking up to three years.

  • Must complete a portion of self-paced and online work prior to joining live intensives.

  • Hybrid program format that includes: 

    • 6 days of in-person intensives and classroom time once a year. These doctoral intensives are 3 days with an additional 3 days that includes SHA’s Annual Sexological Conference.

    • 40 hours of live online supervision occurring bi-monthly (excluding Dec. and June).

    • Quarterly live special topic courses.

    • The remaining coursework to be completed self-paced online through our education platform.

    • Access to attend SHA certification program live online weekends.

Core Program Components:

This program utilizes a flexible hybrid format to accommodate working professionals. It combines self-paced online learning, monthly live online supervision, and an annual in-person intensive. Students progress through the curriculum while engaging in ongoing clinical consultation and working towards the completion of their doctoral dissertation.

  • Advanced Online Coursework: Delivered through a dynamic learning management system, incorporating interactive lectures, scholarly readings, multimedia resources, discussion forums, and applied learning activities.

  • Intensive In-Person Clinical Residencies: Held once per academic year, these immersive experiences prioritize advanced experiential training, intensive small-group supervision, live and video-based case consultations, specialized skills workshops, and professional networking opportunities. Intensives include a 3 day in-person intensive each year, strategically scheduled immediately prior to our Annual Sexological Conference. These intensives also provide focused classroom instruction, in-depth case consultations and valuable networking opportunities with faculty and peers.

  • This program is offered globally.

Prerequisites: 

  • A Master’s degree in counseling, therapy or clinical field with a licensure option, official transcript, ID, CV etc.

  • Must be certified in sex therapy or counseling from an approved program or currently in SHA's comprehensive certification program. *Approved programs include:

    • Online coursework of 150+ CE hours

    • 45+ live or in-person training hours (Example: SHA’s Sexceptional Weekends)

    • Complete one SAR (14 CEs)

    • Supervision
